New Red Fire Leaf Lettuce Seedling | Live Vegetable Plant
Grow beautiful, fresh lettuce right outside your door.
Add color, texture, and fresh homegrown greens to your garden with our New Red Fire Leaf Lettuce Seedling. Known for its beautifully ruffled green leaves with deep red and burgundy coloring, New Red Fire is a loose-leaf lettuce variety that brings just as much visual interest to the garden as it does fresh flavor to the table.
New Red Fire is a wonderful choice for raised beds, containers, traditional vegetable gardens, and small-space edible gardens. Because it is a leaf lettuce, you can harvest individual outer leaves while allowing the center of the plant to continue producing.
Each seedling is started from organic seed and grown using organic potting soil and organic fertilizer before being carefully prepared for its journey to your garden.
Our seedlings are grown in small batches, so each plant receives the time and attention it needs before leaving Gateway Vegan.
What You'll Receive
Choose between:
1 New Red Fire Leaf Lettuce Seedling
or
4 New Red Fire Leaf Lettuce Seedlings Bundle
Each plant arrives growing in its own 2.6-inch black nursery pot with an established root system.
Because every seedling is a living plant, natural variations in size, coloring, leaf shape, and appearance should be expected. Red coloration can also become more pronounced as the plant matures and responds to its growing conditions.
Planting Guide
Sun: Full sun to partial shade. In warmer climates, afternoon shade can help protect lettuce from excessive heat.
Spacing: Approximately 8–12 inches between plants
Water: Keep soil consistently moist but not soggy. Lettuce has relatively shallow roots and performs best with regular, even moisture.
Soil: Plant in fertile, well-draining soil rich in organic matter.
Season: New Red Fire is a cool-season lettuce that performs best during the milder temperatures of spring and fall.
Growing conditions and planting dates vary by location. We recommend checking your local growing zone and planting calendar before ordering.
Harvesting
New Red Fire gives you the option of harvesting individual leaves or allowing the plant to mature before harvesting more extensively.
For a continuous supply of fresh lettuce, harvest the larger outer leaves as needed while leaving the center of the plant intact so it can continue growing.
Leaves can also be harvested younger for tender baby greens.
For the best texture and flavor, harvest lettuce during the cooler part of the day and before the plant begins to bolt.
Enjoy your New Red Fire lettuce fresh in salads, sandwiches, wraps, burgers, bowls, and your favorite garden-to-table recipes.
